Tenacious’ method of revitalizing the battery is different than the others. Rather than a “solvent” or oil base liquid that tries to prevent sulfation from forming again, we take the sulfation that is there, adhered to the plates, and reverse its chemistry to dissolve back into the solution.

What causes a battery to “lose life” and slow down?
When the lead battery is used, sulfation crystals accumulate during the discharging period. Due to these “crystals” forming on the lead plates sulfuric acid density cannot be recovered when the charging cycle is completed. Thus the voltage cannot regain itself and the specific gravity of each cell goes lower and lower (more sulfation and less sulfuric acid).

Does Tenacious BRS help the battery if there is damage inside?
No. Physical damage is not covered by the guaranty. In fact, Tenacious has the only 2v Cell Tester available for deep cell batteries used in forklifts. In other words after treating the cells with Tenacious Battery Revitalization System™ you are able to use our tester and see, first hand, what is the state of the forklift battery and what is necessary to restore it back to the original power.

Why does the specific gravity of electrolytic solution decline?
Every time a battery is discharged its specific gravity goes down. Normally, recharging
restores it. While the battery is used, crystalline sulfate (white crystal generated by the reaction of sulfuric acid and lead in the solution) is formed. This is caused by the reduction of sulfuric acid in the solution. Since the specific gravity reflects the concentration of sulfuric acid in the electrolytic solution, lower concentration in the solution inhibits recovery of the specific gravity.
Adding Tenacious and using the battery for 2-3 months will restore the specific gravity to the normal level. Charging and discharging the battery dissolves the sulfation and the more you use the battery the quicker the battery is restored to a like-new condition. By recording the specific gravity measurements before and after charging/discharging, you will see a significant and stable change in the solution.

Is the battery fully recovered when the specific gravity is restored?
Not necessarily, but change in specific gravity can be an indication of battery recovery. In this case, since the pole plate area is reduced, the battery is not fully recovered (such batteries often show reduced usable time.) We carry out a “discharge test” which is necessary to assess the current state of batteries. Please see our exclusive Cell Tester.

Why does your guaranty only extend the battery life for 18 months if it claims to double the life?
In almost all cases it does double the life. However, when you’re dealing with a forklift battery that should last 10 years but the abuse it takes depending on how much activity it gets, could allow it to only go 4 years. With minimum maintenance and a re-application of Tenacious each year, the battery will easily surpass the battery manufacture’s warranty by the 18 months we promised.
NOTE: This additional 18-month guaranty is vital for electric golf cart batteries. Most golf courses lease the carts for 4 years. The batteries are guaranteed for 3 years providing you maintain them per the instructions – keep a maintenance log, use distilled water, etc.- so herein lies the problem. The leasing company comes by in 3 years in order to sign you up for a brand new 4-year lease even though it’s only been 3 years. In order to prevent buying new batteries for a fleet of 100+ carts at around $70 per battery you are forced to stay with the same cart manufacturer whether you want to or not. By adding Tenacious to your new batteries you have extended the battery life by 2 years, guaranteed, at about $42-57 for the entire cart. It’s recommended you add it again the next year to double the battery life so for another $42-57 you are able to make a decision on changing the cart manufacturer or purchasing the carts after the lease is up or renting them out to other facilities. At least you have options and not problems!

Actually, the best time is when you get your new battery. By adding Tenacious Battery Revitalization System™ at that time you are creating an environment that keeps the chemical reactions in balance. No sulfation forms since the electrolyte solution remains in its original state. This is how the battery doubles its life. When sulfation starts to form the structure of the battery starts to weaken and become brittle. Literally, you are sucking the life out of the battery by corrosion of the lead plates and the terminals.
